Just another WordPress.com weblogCinema 4D wine glass
First of all i imported a picture of an empty wine glass from google. I then brought the picture into cinema 4D. After i moved my mouse to “objects manager” and clicked and held down “draw freehand spline”. I then clicked “bezier spline”. I selected it and drew half the way round it from top to bottom. When i had finished this, i clicked and held down the “add hyper NURBS object” and clicked on “add lathe NURBS object”. These actions made my wine glass whole. To add materials i went down to the bottom window and went to “file” then clicked “load materials” then clicked “MAXON” then clicked on “cinema 4D” then “materials” then finally clicked on “basics” and the material window came up. To add the colour to my wine glass i clicked on which ever one i wanted held the mouse down and dragged it to the word i named wine glass, let go and then the colour changed.
Evaluation for my chocolate (Computers)
Another part of my research for this project was to use computers. I did things such as research existing Starbucks goods, different packaging, competing chocolate, research on advertising as well as chocolate advertising; advert ideas with graphics, research on graphics, an A2 poster/advert and then produce packaging for my chocolate. I did pretty much all of this using Photoshop, which was very easy.
For my A2 advert I targeted mothers in particular than rather than just putting a picture of chocolate. As my target market is ‘Ladies at lunch’ I used a child’s happiness to get the mothers to feel like if they came to Starbucks then they would get the same happiness. I used google images then Photoshop to put it together. I came up with the tag line.
Evaluation for my Floating City
In this project we were told to make floating cities out of whatever materials we wanted. I decided to use card, blue foam, coloured paper, wood and a base of wood. For the buildings I used wood. To cut the pieces I used the band saw which wasn’t hard. To stick the wood to the card I used wood glue, which held really well. I also used the wood glue to stick my blue foam to the card and that too held well. I was going to use the hot glue to stick the blue foam but found out on a test piece that the foam disintegrated. If I was making a real city I would use materials like steel and glass. For my model I had to make a few minor adjustments because I was originally going to make a big city with lots of buildings; but because of the scale I had to work to I decided to make my city more of a holiday resort. My city is based in the Caribbean islands and joins onto Barbados. My appearance of my city was still based on my concept overall.
When I found out the scale of what we had to work to I first thought it would be easy but a bit difficult when it came to building size. But when everything was explained properly I didn’t think it would be so hard.
In my city are everyday functions. There are places to live, eat, work and relax. My city is more of a tourist attraction so the people living there are mainly the staff who work there. The main thing in my city is the hotel. It is the biggest building there and hundreds of guests can go there. They would have the out look of the beautiful sea and beach I made and also the beach of the main island my city is connected to. We also had to incorporate functions that can produce renewable energy. I put solar panels on the hills to capture sunlight so that at night it would power lamps so people would use less electricity therefore saving them money. Vehicles in my city, including the train that takes people to and from the main island to mine, would run on electric power from recycled waste. There is also a building that has a machine that recycles paper, glass, canes and some plastics.
When finding information to help me make my city I used Photoshop to draw out abstract images of words I was given at the start. For example modular. I had to include all these words into my design idea. My buildings are of a modular shape. When I designed ideas for city I got pieces of card and drew round the shape of my bowl. I thought this would help me because I would remember what scale I had to work to and I would make my buildings accordingly. I gathered information for background work too. For example renewable energy and materials. I used band saw and sander the most when cutting and smoothing my pieces of wood.
Overall I think my concept does represent my idea because it turned out to be what I had planned.
initial ideas
These are some of my initial ideas for my floating city. I used photoshop to draw, write and colour.
